IMPRINTS

2010/11

On my first of two Gargantua projects, I engaged in two parallel dramaturgical processes–one with Michael as he crafted the script and one with Jacquie as she shaped the onstage movement. Their ability to listen to one another, to receive and respond, was inspiring, and I was able to serve, at times, as both a conceptual and practical bridge in the process.

“Inspired by current theories of genetic memory, playwright Michael Spence explores the ghosts of our ancestral past by imagining them as existing within our genes. IMPRINTS speculates about the thousands of intimate strangers that make up our lineage and how their experiences are manifested in our instincts, fears and dreams.”
